Kindergarten

Kindergarten is an exciting and important step in your child’s success in school. The Bellevue School District is committed to providing a variety of experiences and opportunities so that your child’s educational experience is productive as well as enjoyable. Our goal is for each child to become a life‐long learner.

What do I need to enroll?

  • A child who is five years old on or before August 31
  • Your child's birth certificate
  • Enrollment Packet
  • Required health information including immunization history
  • Two emergency contacts including name, address and phone number

Full-Day Kindergarten

BSD offers free full‐day Kindergarten program in every elementary school. Kindergartners attend school on the same schedule as those in grades 1-5. Half-Day kindergarten is available upon request. Please contact the Student Placement office at studentplacement@bsd405.org for more information. Mid-day transportation is not available.)
 

6 hours, 25 minutes
(4 hours, 5 minutes on Wednesday)

Science, social studies and additional experiences in art, music or physical education are added to the core curriculum of reading, writing and mathematics.
Transportation is provided to students on an established bus route.


Half-day kindergarten is available upon request. On average, three or fewer students elect this option district-wide each year. Please work with your school to arrange for half-day kindergarten.

  • The school day will be from the start of the day until lunch
  • Your student will miss out on all learning in the afternoon
  • Mid-day transportation is not available
  • Students need to attend their attendance area school
  • Half-day kindergarten is not available in our choice schools and programs

Child Find is a component of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) that requires states to locate, identify and evaluate all children with disabilities who are in need of early intervention or special education services.
